With the founding of the Erie County Federation of Democratic Women and a local Young Democrats chapter in 2023, a new generation of leaders are coming into their own.

It was an honor to welcome the Young Democrats of New York to Buffalo at the end of 2022 for their annual convention, especially after a year in which young voters had such a powerful impact at the polls.

Discussions at the convention led to the formation of an Erie County chapter of the Young Democrats, and we are grateful to Olivia M. Owens for taking the lead as President.

At a time when women’s rights are under attack from the right, it is exciting to see the emergence of the Federation of Democratic Women in Erie County as well.

Led by West Seneca Chair Amy Kobler, the Federation has already held successful events in its own right and raised resources for local charitable organizations.

And they are working hard to elect endorsed Democrats who stand for and defend the values of equality and opportunity that define our party. We look forward to great things from them in 2023 and beyond!
